PROHIBITED ITEMS & SUPPORT

The MSIG Action Asia 50 Series races are designed to challenge individual participants - both mentally and physically – while they enjoy going ‘above & beyond’ in racing in some of Asia’s best trail running courses. To ensure that all individual competitors can compete in a fair and equal playing field, no runner shall gain an advantage over another individual because they have a support crew assisting them.

Action Asia Events reserves the right to penalise or disqualify runners for any transgression of the following:

  • Doping and the use of prohibited drugs.
  • Throwing garbage onto the course.
  • Taking shortcuts and/or running off the trails.
  • Not completing the marked course, on foot and under your own power.
  • Accepting any form of mobile support along the route, e.g.: pacing or muling.
  • You are not allowed to accept any support outside of the designated Check Point areas from crew. Race participants may take as much food and beverage as needed from each aid station provided by the organiser.
  • Not abiding by instructions from official race staff such as Race Director, AAE staff, Doctor, First Aid and emergency staff.
  • Race participants will not be allowed to take any bottles or cups from the Check Point areas and should plan on carrying and refilling their own hydration systems at the CP’s.
  • Race participants may run, walk or crawl, but may not make use of any motorized or wheeled vehicles during the race.
  • You must make forward progress exclusively under your own power. Carrying, pulling or pushing by a support crew or members of the public is strictly prohibited.
  • If you choose to use poles they are to be carried on you at all times from start to finish. You are not allowed to discard or give to support crew. Please be conscious of those around you when using poles.
  • Not carrying on your person at all times the following mandatory gear
  • Your race number must be visible at all times on the outside of your clothing and on the front of your body over your belly or chest. It must not be worn on your pants or leg. Do not cover over your race number with any backpack strap or article of clothing. Do not fold your bib to cover any part of the bib.

Adverse Weather Rules and regulation

  • If lightning or adverse weather occurs during the race, please go to the nearest shelter. Please proceeds only when it is safe.
  • The organizer reserves the right to postpone, suspend, halt or cancel the race if adverse weather occurs. Participants have no right to claim for refund of entry fee or a proportionate reimbursement for other damages such as travel expenses.
  • The announcement of commencement will be posted on all checkpoints, start and Finish for adverse weather. Participants must follow the announcement to proceed.
  • Award Ceremony will proceed, and final ranking will be based on the participants' last arrival checkpoint or Finish if the race is postponed, suspended, halt, or canceled. The race director has the final say for the final ranking.
  • Runners need to carry EZ-link card and small cash throughout the whole event to return to the finish if the race is canceled or postponed due to adverse weather.

Trail etiquette / Trail Safety / Eco-friendly vignette scripts

1.    Passing

We don’t all run at the same pace.

When you’re on the trail, be aware of faster runners wanting to pass, and keep left where possible. PLEASE KEEP LEFT and PASS RIGHT side when approaching.

If you’re passing slower runners, give plenty of notice and slow down if you have to. Shout out ‘On your right’ or ‘Passing on the right’ to warn them of your approach.

The extra care taken is a small price to pay for keeping everyone safe and happy on the trails.

2.    Music

Music is a great motivator when running whether it’s in training or during a race.

There’s nothing like some great tunes to lift your spirits and keep the pace.

Keep you volume low enough to hear approaching runners, and be aware of changing terrain. When the trail narrows or get more crowded, you may need to turn down or turn off your music just so everyone can share the trail, and run or pass safely.

Plug in, but don’t tune out!

3.    Litter

Gels, bars, sweets, bananas … having a snack on the trails is great to keep your energy levels up, but don’t forget to take your trash with you!

We love the trails and we can all do our part to keeping them beautiful and litter-free. Pick up after yourself, or someone else!

Take nothing but pictures, and leave nothing behind but footprints.

4.    Recyling / No Cups racing

The average runner uses 3 paper cups over a 5km race.

Over 5k, 10k, 21k and 50k, that’s a lot of cups. Let’s help save the environment racing with NO CUPS. Use a reusable bottle, hydration bag or a foldable cup during a race, and take only what you need.

It just takes a small effort from everyone to make a big difference in the world we live in.

NOTE: Please read this page closer to race week as could be updated with further changes depending on the country.
