What attracts Elsa Jean de Dieu to Lantau

 - it's my favorite place in HK and the scenery is so amazing and powerful.”

我之所以選擇這場比賽是因為我對大嶼山情有獨鍾,那裹風景非常美麗和壯觀,是我在香港最喜愛的地方。

 

1. How many times have you taken part in an event like this? 你參加過幾次像這樣的活動?

Quite a few times already since I started running in HK. Six years ago I did my first race in Laos, and one month later my very first race in HK which was the Lantau 2 Peaks. It's a tough race when you don't really have much experience - I'm not sure how I even managed to finish on the podium! Then last year the MSIG Lantau50 had a good run.

一開始在香港跑步到現在,已經參加了好幾次比賽。第一場賽事是六年前在老撾,一個月之後就是我的第一埸香港賽事—大嶼山兩峰賽。當时我真的沒有太多比賽經驗,而且比赛難度又高,我都不清楚自己是如何完賽得獎了。然後在上年的MSIG 大嶼山50也跑出了不錯的成績。

2. Why do you choose to join these races? (2 Peaks and MSIG Lantau50) 為什麼選擇參加這幾場大嶼山兩峰賽及MSIG大嶼山50的賽事?

I chose to join this race because I have a special attraction to Lantau - it's my favorite place in HK and the scenery is so amazing and powerful. It's also my favorite race and the first of the trail running season.

我之所以選擇這幾場比賽是因為我對大嶼山情有獨鍾,那裹風景非常美麗和壯觀,是我在香港最喜愛的地方。因此那是我最喜歡的賽事,也是越野賽季的首選開季賽事。

3. What got you into running? 是什麼事情啟發你開始跑步的?

I discovered trail running in HK and got completely hooked the first time I ran, and it has now become an addiction! HK is a challenging city to live in as we all work very hard - and of course there are also many parties - and I found trail running to be the best way to empty my mind and refuel my body with positive energy. So a big reason to run for me is to keep good balance in my life.

當初我在香港發現了越野跑這項運動,首次參加後就完全迷上了, 現在更變成習慣。居住在香港這個充滿挑戰性的城市,人們都需辛勤地工作。然而,我發現越野跑是讓我放鬆身心、補充正能量的最佳方式。其實有很多事情一直激勵著我堅持跑步,但最大原因就是越野跑能讓我保持良好的生活平衡。

4. What is your motivation of running? 你跑步的動力是什麼?

Actually I have quite a few things that motivate me. I love to be surrounded by nature and feel that my body is alive and energized. I also have an amazing team (Team Uglow Asia), my teammates are like my family and I feel so lucky to be able to spend hours and hours running with them and sharing the same passion.

其實有很多事情一直激勵著我堅持跑步,但最大原因就是越野跑能讓我保持良好的生活平衡。我鐘情於大自然,每當置身其中都會變得精神煥發。我還有一群很好的Uglow Asia隊友,他們就像我的親人一樣。能夠跟志同道合的隊友一同跑步絕對是很幸運的事。

5. Ever injured? How serious it is?  你有受過傷嗎?嚴重嗎?

Ohhh yes.... I went through a long painful period when I cracked my meniscus and couldn't race for 3 years. I'm grateful that I went through this period and discovered many things about myself. Since the injury I changed my attitude and now it's not my ego that pushes me to run but just pure enjoyment and happiness. I thank my body every day that it allows me to run again and enjoy every single run. I realized that the human body is an amazing machine and it's better to carefully listen to our bodies if we want to go further and push our limits.

噢有啊!我經歷了一段非常難熬的時期,當時我的半月板撕裂以致三年內不能參加任何比賽。但我很感恩最後能捱過這段時期, 並令我更深刻地了解自己。受傷改變了我對跑步的心態,現在我跑步並不是為了自尊心,而是純粹地享受它給我帶來我的歡樂。每天我都都\很感恩身體可以讓我繼續跑步,享受每一次奔跑。我意識到人體其實很奇妙,想要跑得更遠和超越極限,那最好要常常留心聆聽我們的身體所需。

6. How do you train for this race? 你是如何為這次比賽做訓練的?

I train 3-4 times a week and spend most of my weekends with my Uglow teammates on the trails. We love Lantau peak and Sunset peak so a few times this summer we did all four peaks at once, which is a lot of elevation.

我一周訓練3-4次,大部分週末都會和隊友一同在山徑上練跑。我非常喜歡鳳凰山與大東山,這個夏天我們甚至有幾次同一時段內跑了四個山頭,連續攀升了很多。

7. How to balance the daily work and pre-race training? 如何平衡日常工作與賽前訓練?

It's very challenging but I believe life is all about keeping a perfect balance between work and the rest of our passions and activities!

這是非常有挑戰性,但我相信生活就是要一直保持工作與熱衷玩樂之間的完美平衡。

8. How do you encourage your family, friends or other people to join trail running? 你如何激勵你的家庭,朋友或者其他人來加入越野跑的?

Sometimes you don't have to directly encourage people, but just inspire them by showing how happy, free and positive trail running makes you! Running in nature is the most powerful therapy I have ever experienced, and I think when people see it's positive effects they are naturally drawn to try it for themselves.

有時你不需要直接鼓勵他們,但你可以透過表現出越野跑是如何使你變得開心、自由、充滿正能量去啟發他們。 跑步實際上是我試過最有效的良方,當他們看到跑步所帶來的正面影響,自然就會來嘗試了。
