Earth is not for humans alone, It is for humans, animals and flora

Earth is not for humans alone, It is for humans, animals and flora

Ms. Cheng Yee Tee, the 50km participant of Zero Waste Category is racing for a greener garden city at 2018 MSIG Singapore Action Asia 50

1.What got you into Trail Running? How long have you been doing it?

I've been doing trail run nearly for 2 years. The appreciation of nature, the beautiful forest, the ability to feel at one and reconnect with nature is a good break from the road race.

2. Why would you join Zero Waste Category of MSIG Singapore Action Asia 50?

This is a cause close to my heart. As humans, we can do our part to reduce our carbon footprint and also to protect the environment which in turns protect the animals and makes earth a better place for humans to live in and co-exist with nature and animals. Earth is not for humans alone, It is for humans, animals, and flora.

3. September is one of the best months to do trail running race, how would you prepare for the race and balance the daily work and pre-race training?

There is no other way but to play our part in the grind. Put in the effort. Mileage is King. We have to do long slow distance training. And I will meet up with my friends when time permits and as well as attending running clinics provided by race organization.

4. What is your goal for the race?

It’s simple. Be Safe, Enjoy and Complete in time.

5. How do you encourage your family, friends or other people to join trail running?

A change in scenery (not tall skyscrapers of offices and shopping malls) can help them to rejuvenate themselves from the road race and running in nature can help them to balance their perspectives in life by changing the surroundings. Start slow and take it from there. You never start, you never know. You only live once.
