7:30am start (7:00 am registration) - Family FUN & kids event (2.8 km kayak & 2.7 km run)

Start Deep Water Bay, Kayaking out towards Ocean Park near orange bouy around 500m out and go around and along Ocean Park coastline for 200m more to next orange bouy and around, then return to Deep Water Bay. Note if choppy see the Race Director might either shorten course or change direction of course going towards Middle Island 700m and return to Deep Water Bay. Minimum age 5. One person must be at least 18 yrs old in kayak for safety reasons. FUN and not a serious race. When arrive at beach, drag your kayak up around 10m on beach on to sand so next teams can properly drain water using kayaks in next race. Proceed to checkpoint tent to let CP1 know you have arrived (marshal will be there recording times). Then carefully cross road by bus stop to golf course dirt road on left of main entrance and proceed along trail heading to back of golf course. This trail will proceed up to catchwater where there will be an checkpoint for the adult race (cp2) (1.3k from beach).  Turn around at this cp after marshal writes your bib number down. Same way directly back to beach for total 2.7km hike / run.

Family event is not a serious race as designed for fun without timing. OK we will do timing, but idea is too have fun and enjoy yourselves and not go crazy trying to race each other. Time limit is 50 minutes for kayak and total 1 hour 30 min for complete race.

Adult Deep Water Bay course details: (map attached in pdf download section)

8:30 am start (7:45 am registration) ADULT - Kayak n Run - 4.5 km ocean kayak - 7 km trail hike / run

Start at Deep Water Bay, Kayaking out towards Ocean Park, then left around bouy towards Middle Island, around Middle Island back to Deep Water Bay beach cp1. Remove lifevests as finished kayak now and go thru big tunnel under road (we don't want anyone crossing main busy road) running behind the golf course near Wong Nai Chung gap direction to cp 2 on the catchwater junction. Then next cp3 near bottom of "stairs from hell", then next cp4 near top of Mt Nicolson, water will be available on Blacks Link road by top of stairs from hell and available in both directions when you pass (not a timing cp), next last 2 cps (the same as first 2 cps that you came by earlier by bottom of stairs from hell and the first cp on the catchwater behind golf course. Finish at Deep Water Bay after running again thru tunnel on beach. You'll see by the cp order we're trying our best to keep you off the main roads. Note Race organizer reserves the right to change course if needed.

MANDATORY CP YOU MUST CHECKIN AND GIVE BIB NUMBER AS A TEAM OF 2.

CP1 - beach after kayak

CP2 / CP6 - catchwater junction

CP3/CP5 - bottom stairs from hell

CP4 - top Mount Nicholson

IMPORTANT - Please note the run course is NOT MARKED as this is suppose to be orienteering. We are helping you with this strava map to see where the CP2/CP6 is located behind the golf course approx 1.3km from beach, the bottom of the 'stairs from hell' CP3/CP5 and the top of Mount Nicholson CP4 which you can go any way you like after CP3.

WATER CP will be located on the top of the 'stairs from hell' on Blacks Link road. We do encourage all when leaving the beach CP1 after the kayak to have a water bottle or hydration system loaded with at least 500ml - 1L as this is summer in Hong Kong with hot temperatures. You can use the Blacks Link water cp both ways depending on how thirsty you are.

Back at the beach - THE ADULT TEAMS MUST GO THRU THE TUNNEL - yes the rules are every year that the adult teams have to go thru the tunnel under the road which is very large around 5m wide and usually 2m deep of water meaning you probably have to swim thru or wade thru with water near chest high. Only the family category is given permission to cross road as not a race but a 'fun event' for family, but as a race for adults, we don't want you crossing road.

The Race Director has the right to make last minute changes depending on weather or other circumstances.
