Leung Shun King and Lisa Kehoe Claim 19km Titles

HONG KONG, March 16, 2026 – Organized by Action Asia Events, the "Healthy Hike & Run – Tai Lam" was successfully held on March 16, with over 400 participants challenging three different race distances. Hong Kong runner Leung Shun King successfully defended his title as the overall champion of the men's 19km category.

19km Men's Category

The 19km course wound through Tai Lam Chung Reservoir, where competitors raced against the stunning backdrop of the so-called "Thousand Islands Lake." Local runner Leung Shun King claimed back-to-back victory with a time of 1 hour 49 minutes and 20 seconds.

Speaking after the race, Leung said: "Today's course was truly enjoyable, with clear markings along the way and pleasantly cool weather. I took one short break mid-race, but thankfully I still managed to get first place—though just barely. The runner-up, Chris Davis, was incredibly strong and fast, finishing only a dozen or so seconds behind me. It was really thrilling!"

Hot on his heels was Chris Davis from the United Kingdom, who took second place in 1 hour 49 minutes and 35 seconds. He said: "The weather was nice today, a bit warm. What a fantastic course—running around the reservoir was amazing. I was a little sad when I found out I was only 15 seconds behind the winner at the finish. If I had known, I would have charged up that hill. What a great race."

Third place went to Hong Kong runner Tsz Ho Tam, who finished in 2 hours 3 minutes and 44 seconds. He said: "This was my first time taking part in the Action Asia Tai Tong 19km race, and the overall experience was fantastic—truly enjoyable! There were some bushwhacking sections along the way, and the weather today was a bit warm, but I performed quite well and was fortunate to secure an award. Thank you, Action Asia!"

Fourth place was UK runner Marc Harris (2 hours 5 minutes and 18 seconds), who said: "Today started off easy and ended with a fierce battle."

Fifth place was Serbian runner Marko Stojanovic, who finished in 2 hours 9 minutes and 46 seconds, praising the beauty of the course and Action Asia's flawless organization for providing such a wonderful experience.

19km Women's Category

Ireland's Lisa Kehoe took the title in 2 hours 4 minutes and 25 seconds. After the race, she said: "I really loved this race. There were some beautiful views along the way, but it was also really tough. I pushed through, and it's a great memory."

Second place also went to Ireland's Aine O'Connell (2 hours 7 minutes and 39 seconds). She said: "It was a beautiful day. The reservoir was stunning—running around the mountain, not so much. But it was a beautiful day."

Third place was claimed by Hong Kong runner Wong Yu Chit in 2 hours 8 minutes and 43 seconds. She said: "Last year I took part in the 14km race, and this year I stepped up to the 19km distance. The route this time passed by a beautiful dam—I have to say, the 19km course felt even more runnable. There were plenty of stair sections along the way, and the scenic reservoir views were absolutely stunning. I'm already looking forward to joining more Action Asia races in the future. Thank you, Action Asia, for organizing such a wonderful event!"

Fourth place was Amy Challoner (2 hours 18 minutes and 18 seconds), who said: "I'm from Ireland. This course was fantastic with beautiful scenery. The last kilometre was absolutely stunning—I really enjoyed this race!"

Fifth place was Hong Kong runner Wiwin Leung in 2 hours 23 minutes and 33 seconds. A devoted fan of Action Asia, she said excitedly: *"I've been taking part in Action Asia events since 2003—over twenty years now. I've joined many of their different races over the years, and every single one has been incredibly enjoyable. This time was no exception—another fantastic experience!"*

13km Category

Both the men's and women's titles in the 13km category went to Hong Kong runners.

The men's winner was Perry Li in 1 hour 15 minutes and 50 seconds. He said: *"I'm thrilled to have taken first place! Today's race was truly enjoyable, and the overall atmosphere was fantastic. Many thanks to Action Asia for organizing such a wonderful event!"*

The women's winner was Nicole Chau in 1 hour 14 minutes and 32 seconds. She said: "Today's race was so much fun. I really like this kind of warm weather, and the course was especially great!"

5km Category

The men's 5km winner was another Hong Kong runner and frequent champion, Ng Yin For. He said: "I took part in the Action Asia 5km race today. I was in good form and the race went very smoothly. There were some stone steps and mountain trails along the way, but I gave it my all throughout. I was lucky to take first place in my category!"

The women's 5km winner was Arabella Bisagni, a 9-year-old from Italy. She said: "My feeling about this race is that it was very hard, but I kept going, and I won! Today I beat myself."

Event Highlights and Environmental Commitment

The event also featured 13km and 5km categories, promoting the beauty of Hong Kong's countryside throughout and supporting the "Leave No Trace" environmental initiative.

Race Director's Remarks

Michael Maddess, Race Director of Action Asia Events, said: *"Congratulations to all finishers, and thank you to all participants. It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces in such hot weather. Despite several other races taking place on the same day, the turnout at Tai Lam was truly encouraging. We are committed to inspiring people to get outdoors, step out of their comfort zones, while protecting the natural environment. Special thanks to our setup crew who started working at 1am – without them, this event would not have been possible."*
