Ferriere and Fang dominate Taiwan mountains

2015 MSIG Taiwan Action Asia 50 - Ultra Skymarathon

Taiwan, Nov 14, 2015 - The MSIG Taiwan Action Asia 50 Ultra Skymarathon mountain trail race saw more than 600 runners compete on one of Taiwan’s most challenging and technical mountain race courses. The MSIG Taiwan Action Asia 50 has 3 distances on offer - 13k, 21k and 50k covering some of Taiwan’s most beautiful trails. “It was a very technical race. I think it was the hardest 50km race that I have ever done,” said Ferriere, the overall champion of the 50km race finishing in just under 7 hours to give you an idea it wasn't easy.

French runner Pierre-Andre Ferriere grabbed the 50km overall champion title of 2015 MSIG Taiwan Action Asia 50 in 6 hours 51 minutes and 38 seconds. Based in Hong Kong, French runner Pierre-Andre Ferriere continued "The second half of the race was really challenging as there were a lot of technical up hills, plenty of trees, stones and roots on the trail and your muscles were getting tired. It was my first time running in Taiwan and I loved the beautiful course,” said Ferrier.

The 50km overall second place went to Russian runner Sasha Tarasov based in Taipei. He finished the race in 7 hours 23 minutes and 3 seconds. “Racing in mountains is a great way to enjoy the nature. I loved the course as we ran mostly on natural trails. I even saw some birds on the trail today. Comparing to last year, I was more relaxed during the race and ran at a more comfortable pace this time which paid off giving me more energy,” said Tarasov.

French runner Baptiste Puyou flew from Hong Kong and grabbed the overall third place of the 50km race. He finished the race in 7 hours 23 minutes and 43 seconds. “The race was more technical than I expected. Small up hills all the time and I felt like it was never ending. The view was great and the weather was pleasant. There were lots of trees and streams on the course so overall I think the course was excellent. it is very close to Hong Kong so I would definitely come back for this again,” said Puyou.

Taiwanese runner Wan Ting Guo won the 50km Women overall champion in 9 hours 3 minutes and 7 seconds. “Thanks for my friend Jochun Ho’s recommendation of the race. The course was stunning especially the climb to the peak of the Mt. Shimen as I could see the whole Shimen reservoir there. Absolutely incredible. As long as Action Asia Events keeps organizing this event, I will keep coming back as fantastic organization and so well marked with fantastic food at checkpoints, between checkpoints and at the finish,” said Guo.

Taiwanese runner Jochun Ho who was invited to the MSIG Sai Kung 50 in Hong Kong earlier this year was first runner up of the 50km overall female finishing the race in 9 hours 32 minutes and 7 seconds. It’s her second time standing on the podium of the MSIG Taiwan Action Asia 50. “I’m a bit tired. During the first 10km of the race, I considered quitting as I did not feel well, but I’m glad I didn’t. I truly enjoyed the second half the race later on as gave it all I had to finish this brutal race. I'll be back” said Ho.

Another local runner Tzu Yun Wang rounded the 50km overall female podium in 9 hours 58 minutes and 27 seconds. “I really appreciated the course and I would recommend this course to all runners and trail runners out there as each section of the course provides different challenges and beautiful views.”

In the 21km mountain race, 23-year-old French runner Guibert Léonard grabbed gold in 1 hour 58 minutes and 39 seconds. “It was challenging at the beginning with Shimen mountain and the last bit of the race on the ridge, because the technical climb was long at the beginning and when I finally reached the last part of the course, I still had to conquer the rocky trail at the end. It was a fantastic course with amazing view,” said Léonard.

The female champion of the 21km race went to Amelia Ortiz from United States who is currently living and studying Chinese in Taiwan. She finished the race in 2 hours 19 minutes and 41 seconds. “I am feeling a little exhausted and need to get my breath. My legs started to get a little tired after the long uphill climb at the beginning of the race so the race was not easy. I like that everybody were very supportive and I had people to run with and it was a beautiful course with many good hills,” said Ortiz.

Taiwan Merrell Adventure runner Jerry Lee winner of the 13km course finished the race in 1 hour 26 minutes and 33 seconds. “Today was my first time running on this course. With very little concrete and some stunning and challenging up hills and stairs, it’s definitely one of the best courses I’ve run and will recommend to my friends. ”

Another Taiwan runner Yueh Chen Wu won the female champion of 13km in 2 hours 5 minutes and 23 seconds. “The course was beautiful and I enjoyed the race immensely. Many thanks to Action Asia Events and all the outstanding staff involved for organizing this well-marked race,” Wu exclaimed.

2015 MSIG Taiwan Action Asia 50 - a Skyrunner® Series event is also one of the most challenging trail running races in Taiwan and a qualifying event for 2016 Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc®. There were three distances on offer this year the 13 kilometers, 21 kilometers and 50 kilometers. The 50km race covered Tapingshan, Shimen shan, Xi zhou shan and finishing at the Shihmen Reservoir parking lot with a minimum 2750 elevation gain making it qualify for a Ultra-Skymarathon.

【11月14日，台北】天色未亮, MSIG 台灣動感亞洲50於清晨五時正式開賽！本屆賽事為Skyrunner®系列賽的其中一站，同時更獲選為 2016環勃朗峰超級越野耐力賽 (UTMB) 的資格賽，吸引了六百餘名來自世界各地的跑手赴台參與。法國選手Pierre-Andre Ferriere以6小時51分38秒奪冠50公里組總冠軍。台灣選手郭婉婷以9小時3分7秒的成績摘得50公里女子冠軍。

現居香港的法國選手Pierre-Andre Ferriere以6小時51分38秒的成績勇奪該賽50公里組別總冠軍。他賽後感慨表示：「MSIG 台灣動感亞洲50是技術難度非常高的比賽，這場比賽是我跑過最有挑戰的50公里賽事。賽道的後半段有很多持續的爬升，又有不少樹根，樹叢和石子，加上肌肉已經感覺很疲憊所以對我來說十分有挑戰。這是我第一次在台灣比賽，我覺得台灣的賽道很美！」

台灣26歲選手郭婉婷以9小時3分7秒的成績摘得50公里女子冠軍

台灣26歲選手郭婉婷以9小時3分7秒的成績摘得50公里女子冠軍。她激動的表示：「謝謝好朋友何若君（50公里女子亞軍）推薦我來參加MSIG 台灣動感亞洲50。我很喜歡這個路線，上石門山的部分是我最喜歡的，因為海拔高度五六百，上去后可以看到整個石門水庫，很漂亮，明年如果繼續辦我就會再來參加。我很喜歡在凌晨5點跑在山徑的感覺，太陽上山前起跑雖然需要頭燈但真的很舒服。」

俄羅斯跑手Sasha Tarasov以7小時23分3秒的成績名列50公里男子第二。他表示：「我很享受在山林中奔跑的感覺，今天在比賽的山徑上還看到了一些山雞，參加越野跑比賽能讓我有機會以另一種方式接觸大自然。我去年也參加了這個比賽50公里，但因為在比賽開始衝的有些太快，途中突然膝蓋痛，所以當時是走完的。今年我的心情比較放鬆，一路都在以讓我自己比較舒服的節奏跑。」

另一名特意從香港前往台灣比賽的法國選手Baptiste Puyou以7小時23分43秒的成績奪得50公里男子第三名。他表示：「MSIG 台灣動感亞洲50比我想象中難很多。感覺上我一直在爬小山坡，好像爬坡永遠都不會結束一樣。我覺得本場比賽的賽道設計的很好，沿途的風景靚麗，不少樹叢和山間小溪，今天的天氣也很舒適。這麼好的跑道離香港也不遠，所以我以後一定會再來的。」

50公里女子亞軍則由台灣野跑選手何若君以9小時32分8秒奪得。連續兩年奪得該組別第二名的她賽後分享說：「感覺有些累，因為身體有些不適，在最前面10公里的時候我就在考慮要不要放棄。還好自己沒有放棄，後半段跑的感覺比較好。」

50公里組別女子第三名也由另一位台灣野跑選手王姿云以9小時58分27秒奪得，她表示：「這是我第一次參加自然山徑較多的越野跑，也是第一次參加香港動感亞洲活動的比賽，我覺得比賽路線很適合我們熱愛跑步和越野的人來跑，每個路段也都有不同的挑戰。」

21公里組別方面，23歲的法國跑手以1小時58分39秒的成績奪冠。Léonard賽後分享說：「賽事開始和最後一段都很有挑戰性。因為一開始就是一段很長的爬坡消耗了不少體力，當我已經精疲力盡比賽快要完成的時候又要面對石子路的挑戰。一流的賽道設計，沿路的風景也很美。」

21公里女子冠軍由現居住台灣的美國留學生Amelia Ortiz以2小時19分41秒的成績奪得。「我現在覺得有點累。在比賽開始一段很長的上坡爬升之後，我的腿就有些累了，所以台灣動感亞洲50絕對不是簡單的比賽。一路跑的很開心因為所有人都非常的熱情，賽道和山景都很美。」

13公里組別方面，44歲的台灣野人幫跑手李耀文以比第二名快近半小時的成績1小時26分33秒勇奪13公里冠軍。他表示：「這是我第一次跑這個路線，我覺得是我跑過最好的跑道之一，馬路的部分很少而且賽道很美。最有挑戰的地方也是最美的部分是五公里后的階梯以及爬升。」

又一位台灣本地選手，吳悅溱以2小時5分23秒的成績贏得了13公里女子冠軍。她激動地說：「很不可思議我會拿到冠軍。我一路十分享受這場比賽，賽道風景非常靚麗，所有的路標也都很清晰。感謝香港動感亞洲的組織。」

石門水庫位於台北桃園縣，環湖山水如詩如畫，鍾靈毓秀，美麗風光多聞遐邇，是台灣北部最知名的觀光旅遊勝地，也是東南亞最大的水利工程。第二屆台灣動感亞洲50將於石門水庫停車場起跑，分為13公里男女子公開組，以及21公里和50公里男女子分齡組別，大致路線如下：
13公里
環繞石門山一圈，返回水庫停車場為終點。全程垂直攀升總值最少700米以上，單次最高攀升距離為551米。
21公里
環繞石門山，沿水庫直到山脊山徑入口，經脊線返回石門水庫停車場終點。全程垂直攀升總距離最少1000米，單次最高攀升距離為551米，重登山脊約450米。
50公里
環繞石門山，沿水庫直到山脊山徑入口，靠右跑越兩個大圈，經脊線返回石門水庫停車場終點。全程垂直攀升總距離最少2750米，單次最高攀升距離為587米。
