Malaysian Sumping looking to 50 after Kinabalu win

Representing Malaysia at the Asian Skyrunning Championship in Hong Kong will be Safrey Sumping in the 50km Ultra Skymarathon category with a recent win at the Kinabalu climbathon and is in good form going into the MSIG Lantau50 - Dec 4.

We caught up with the North Face Adventure Team runner Malaysian Safrey Sumping on his way to Hong Kong for the MSIG Lantau50.

What inspires you to train so hard?

Safrey: Racing has given me new opportunities in life.  I enjoy the challenge of competition and to travel and meet runners from around the world.

Any role models who helped you grow and take risks?

Safrey: My teammate Stone has been a big role model and to see him place top ten in Ultra running World Tour is just amazing coming from Asia   He is also very humble and the way he balances his family with his success as an athlete and ambulance work is so impressive.

Any popular results in past year you are proud of?

Safrey:
-after 13 years I finally won the Climbathon...Amazing for me to finally win this very famous international mountain running race that is on my home mountain.

Make sure you are on the course to watch out for Safrey and yell out 'Malaysia'on the 50k course Dec 4 2016 at the MSIG Lantau50.
