Keung and Daniels breaks 30km record -200 plus bikers highest yet

AA XC Mountain Bike Classic - 30km (2 loop) and 15km (1 loop) Race – Tai Lam Chung Reservoir – Sunday Nov 13, 2011

Hong Kong: - Three records were broken Sunday at the Rocky Mountain Fox AA Mtn Bike Classic with Keung Tze Hing and Hilliary Daniels breaking the 30km Tai Lam Chung record and Action Asia Events pulling in the largest entry for a single bike race with over 210 entered.

香港﹕在這個星期日舉行的動感亞洲環塘賽產生了三個新的紀錄，謝興強和Hilliary Daniels分別在男女子組30公里賽中取得冠軍。而這天的比賽亦是動感亞洲有史以來舉辦的最大型的單日單車賽事，超過210人參加。

Hammering the pedals and staying in front of the chase pack was Cyclone Cycling Club member Keung Tze Hing who blasted the first loop in 39 minutes flat and finished in a new course record 1 hour 19 minutes 55 seconds taking 22 seconds off the old record.

取得冠軍並遙遙領先的是來自Cyclone Cycling Club的成員謝興強，他首圈只用了39分鐘，並以22秒之差，破了大會的紀錄，以1小時19分55秒完成整個賽事。

“The weather was good today as last few days it had rained in Tai Lam so great it changed. Feedback from many people has been great as they love joining a bike race with so many people” said overall winner Keung.

「今天的天氣很好，前幾天還是下著雨呢。從別人的口中知道這個賽事很好玩，很高興單車的賽事可以越攪越大。」謝興強說。

Only 35 seconds later and second across the line was Chiru Endurance Asia rider Lantau resident Cosmo Richards who just a month ago won the Action Asia Nepal 100km trail running race. “Chiru bike was great, awesome course and great race. The starting pace was really hot and very fast. I let the younger guys go as they were too fast which paid off. Action Asia should do more mountain bike races” said 2nd overall Richards who finished in 1 hour 20 minutes 20 seconds.

只是35秒之差屈居亞軍的Cosmo Richards 由Chiru Endurance rider贊助，他於上一回100公里的比賽中取得冠軍，今次他以1小時20分20秒完成﹕「Chiru的單車很棒，很好的賽道，很好的比賽。在起點時的確快及很熱，我讓年青的賽手先過。動感亞洲應該多舉辦單車比賽。」

Fitness guru Howard Tsang snatched 3rd ahead of other top ranked riders. “Really good race, well organized and one of the biggest ever in Hong Kong and hope more are coming” said Tsang who finished in 1 hour 21 minutes 6 seconds.

第三名的Howard Tsang以1小時21分6秒完成﹕「比賽的氣氛很好，這是最多人參加的一次賽事，安排得很好，希望可以再多些人參加。」

Hillary Daniels broke her own previous course record by over a minute winning in 1 hour 46 minutes 15 seconds. “The trails were perfect and a great event today. There were a lot of people out here today both hiking and biking” said Daniels.

Hillary Daniels打破了她之前的紀錄，1小時46分5秒完成﹕「完美的賽道，很好的賽事。今天有很多人到來有踏單車的也有行山的。」

Second in the womens overall was Dennex Lui finishing in 2 hours 13 minutes 24 seconds. “I’m quite happy I completed the course as a lot of fun today” said Lui.

女子組第二名Dennex Lui完成時間2小時13分24秒﹕「我能夠完成已經很高興，因為今天很開心。」

Third overall in the women’s was Tina Purvis finishing a minute later behind Lui. “The first lap was exciting with so many people and the 2nd lap got even better” laughing Purvis.

第三名Tina Purvis落後於Dennex Lui一分鐘﹕「第一圈有很多賽手，很刺激，第二的狀態更理想。」

Top participants shared a prize money purse of HK$2500 cash plus prizes from Bell, Flying Ball bike shop. The race couldn’t have happened without the generous support of Rocky Mountain and Fox Racing Shox as presenting sponsors. Kind support came from Pure Blonde beer, Rosbacher water, Gatorade and the Action Asia Foundation.

最好成績的參賽者會得到HK$2500現金獎由Bell, Flying Ball bike shop贊助。是次賽事能夠成功舉辦，很感謝Rocky Mountain and Fox Racing Shox的支持，還有Pure Blonde beer, Rosbacher water, Gatorade 及 the Action Asia Foundation.

Race Director Michael Maddess was happy but not without a message to the AFCD govt dept. “We’re extremely grateful AFCD supported this mountain bike race at Tai Lam Chung which clearly is one of the best mountain bike venues in Hong Kong, but at the same time we have been pleading for over 10 years to close the road during bike races which we are refused. We hope that after they see the growth and popularity in biking that they will consider closing the country park roads in the future for at least 2 hours on a Sunday morning once a year.

賽事總監Michael Maddess﹕「很高興AFCD的支持這次大欖涌單車賽，很明顯地這個賽道是香港最好的賽道，我們在過去10年間多次申請也被拒，希望AFCD可以看見單車賽的普及，可以開放郊野公園的道路，最少每年一次一個星期日早上的兩個小時讓我們舉辦賽事。」

The next Action Asia Event involving bikes will be the Suunto Action Asia Challenge in December with mountain biking, trail running, ocean kayaking, river rock scrambling, rope skills and orienteering.

下次的賽事是同樣是很精彩刺激的，期待的的參與。
