Since 2004 the Action Sprint Sai Kung has been an annual Hong Kong tradition for trail runners and adventure seekers interested in the outdoors and with no event over the last 3 years (due to pandemic), all restrictions dropped, everyone made up for lost time socializing with old friends, meeting new friends and relishing the enjoyment of just having a good time in the outdoors with close to 300 participants entering both the 18km and 12km courses.

“Fantastic race today. Nice course. Fast. A little bit hot but got used to it and really like it, enjoyable and good organization as well. Really enjoyed the last 5km as could speed up and have a lot of fun, but small technical challenges in between so was very good, “ said Swiss national Marco Mueller winning the 18 km course in 1:28:26.

Hong Kong's Ka Sing 家盛 Cheng 鄭said“beautiful weather today for trail running as fast paced, technical, great event and hope all can join this Action Asia event next time as well done”finishing in 1:34:32 for 2nd in the Mens 18 km Action Sprint.

This is the 2nd time I’ve done an Action Asia event and this one was really great as I enjoyed the landscape so much as the scenery was great, the reservoir was stunning with the views and I recommend everyone to try this course. In short it’s a bit technical, but not too much and you really will enjoy it,”….said French national Sophie Hedou grabbing the overall Women's 18 km win in 1:55:00.

HK's Wong Mei Yan grabbing 2nd overall in the Womens’s 18 km in 1:57:01 said “I think this course design is really beautiful as fantastic views especially of the reservoir even though there are some technical sections, I really enjoyed it with the temperatures climbing this time of year”.

“Awesome feedback and really happy that many are doing the whole series with some saying they want to step up and train for the upcoming Mongolia Action Asia 3 day stage race in the Gobi desert”.

Both distances of 12km & 21km take runners and hikers on the road from the Pak Tam Chung gate to the Lok Wu Country Trail entrance on Pak Tam Road, following Lok Wu Country trail around 6 km with a climb up to 298m on mixed terrain of dirt trails, stone steps, a small river crossing, before arriving at Sai Wan Road check point, reservoir views to the Pak Tam Chung finish for the 12km with a total elevation gain of around 449m while the 18km category continues another couple kilometers around the reservoir before a final 5km technical scenic dirt track on the Sheung Yiu country trail back to the Pak Tam Chung finish for a total elevation gain of around 572m.

The event could not have happened without the kind support of OCA, DelMonte, Royale International, Bonaqua, Action X Store, Fitz, C3fit, Action Asia Sports Academy.
