Weather produces fast time - KC Chan takes Repulse Bay Action Sprint Men’s & while Rofigoh storms to the beach in Womens
HONG KONG, March 14, 2026 – The Action Sprint Trail series a regular feature on the Hong Kong calendar since 2003 had close to 300 trail runners entering Repulse Bay with a nice beach run to add some sand in the shoes at the start of a race, just to make it a bit tougher on the body as each race is different in the series.
Local Hong Konger KC Chan took the Men’s 14km title saying “that was tough as forgot it is a straight uphill sprint from the beach which sucks the air out of the lungs. Great organization, nice weather which helped and I found a great rhythm out there. Looking ahead, I'm already excited for the doing the Action Asia X-Trail in Taipei next weekend. I've heard the course there is quite technical, with lots of twists and turns and rugged terrain, which will really test my reflexes. I can't wait for the challenge! See you all in Taipei!" said Chan who won in 1 hour 20 minutes 28 seconds.
“Loved today. Fantastic course. It’s a beautiful day. Finishing on the beach. In the sun. What could be better.” said a very happy Chris Davis (UK) after finishing 2nd overall in 1:23:48 in Men’s 14km Action Sprint Repulse Bay by Action Asia Events.
Third across the line in the Men’s 14km was Clement Nolleau (France) finishing in 1 hour 24 minutes 23 seconds. “I only did it to push this guy (pointing to Jerome who grabbed 5th), but honestly the weather was great, beautiful course, nice marshals, thanks so much” said Nolleau.
Fourth was local Leung Son Keng a regular podium finisher in many past Action Asia Events.
Fifth was Jerome de Clarens (France). “I only did it to run against Clement who grabbed 3rd but really enjoyed it and nice marking, setup, everything as will be back” said Jerome finishing in 1 hour 28 minutes 20 seconds.
Taking the Women’s 14km title was Dolores Rofiqoh (Indonesia) in 1 hour 39 minutes 13 seconds. “Wow that was hard but satisfying. Started to get hot. So much fun, but not easy.” Said the overall 14km winner Rofigoh.
Virginie Didier (France) took 2nd overall in the Women’s 14km in 1 hour 41 minutes 09 seconds. “That was hard but fun and great conditions and nice organization. Look forward to more” said Didier.
Helene Neto (France) – Very happy with this race. Love it. I try to do it every year. It’s one I know so no excuse today. Always a lot of fun. Tough competition. It went very fast and furious. But as always amazing organizing. Thank you Action Asia said Neto who finished 3rd overall in 1 hour 1 hour 43 minutes 13 seconds.
Pauline Heymans (Belgium) grabbed 4th overall in the Women’s 14km saying “Fantastic organizing. It was a great event. I had a great run. See you next time “ said Heymans finishing in 1 hour 45 minutes 27 seconds.
Rachel Walleczek (UK) It was beautiful weather, really nice conditions, so I am really happy I took 5th. Yeahh. “ said Walleczek finishing the 14km in 1 hour 54 minutes 17 seconds.
In the 9km Men’s distance Hong Kong’s Ng Yin For won in 1 hour 40 seconds, while in the Women’s 9km Emilie Saint-Pe (France) took the title in 1 hour 5 minutes 8 seconds.
“Today marked my first time racing in Repulse Bay, competing in the 9km event. I was in great form, staying towards the front throughout the run. Around the 2km mark, I started to pick up the pace. Although the terrain became a bit uneven, I quickly found my rhythm, maintained my stride, and successfully crossed the finish line in first place. I truly enjoyed the race today!” said Ng overall 9km winner.
“I lived in HK for so long and now traveling and stopping by Hong Kong for work, so couldn’t resist popping by and entering an Action Asia race” said overall 9km Women’s winner Saint-Pe.
Runners set off from Repulse Bay Beach and after a short 400m sprint on the sand, they headed up towards Tai Tam Country Park for a loop around Violet Hill including going over the 436meter peak. Going down the Wilson trail, technical rocks and cement stairs the 9km participants would then drop back down to Repulse Bay for a total elevation gain of around 568m, while the 14km participants continued towards Tai Tam Reservoir for another loop around the middle reservoir, more technical dirt trails before finishing back at the beach for a total elevation gain of around 751m.
The Action SPRINT Trail Series now in its 23rd year is an icon in Hong Kong for many trail runners and outdoor lovers with over 1000 participating in the series every year. Focusing on the environment, sustainability and Leaving No Trace, Action Asia Events used almost 100% recycled course marking material for the previous Action Sprint race focusing on its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, while generating over 10 bags of separated waste made up of food waste from banana and orange peels, plastics and cardboard that will all be recycled. Action Asia Events is dedicated to creating diversified and challenging routes and giving runners the opportunity to set foot on less-trodden trails and explore the suburbs away from the concrete jungle to promote mental health.
The event could not have happened without the kind support of Bonaqua, Aquarius, Corona beer, Neon Tiger, UFC Coconut Water, Action X Store, Fitz, Action Asia Sports Academy together with the hard working marshals, volunteers and staff.
